Ms Cayssials studied biology at the University of the Republic (Uruguay), where she obtained her MSc (2010) and started to do research in the field of plant ecology. Later, she obtained a MSc in statistics with an emphasis on biostatistics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2015).
She started work at the Unit of Nutrition, Environment and Cancer at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO-IDIBELL) in April 2016. She provides statistical support and manages the relational databases of the unit. She mainly works on data from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition study (EPIC) assessing the relation between Inflammatory potential of diet and the risk for different types of cancer.
From 2005 to 2011, Ms Cayssials worked in the Department of Ecology at the University of the Republic (Uruguay) analysing the evolutionary relationship between grasses and their environment.
