Catalina Bonet Bonet
Research support
Catalina holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics ( Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona), a Master’s degree in Statistics and Statistical Sciences and Techniques (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-UPC), and a Master’s degree in Statistics and Operations Research (UPC).
She started her professional career in the private sector, working first for a clinical research organization and later for the pharmaceutical industry, where she acquired a strong foundation in the design, plan, development, analysis and report of clinical and observational trials, achieving the coordination and leadership of the statistical departments.
In 2009, following her growing interest in epidemiology, she joined the Unit of Nutrition and Cancer (UNAC) at the Catalan Institute of Oncology. She is one of the principal statisticians of the unit and contributes to the general research progress of projects developed at UNAC, which include studies carried out in the EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition) cohort, and clinical trials such as the randomized controlled multi-center study PREDICOP.
She is currently doing her PhD in public health (Universitat de Barcelona) focusing on obesity and breast cancer survivors. She also teaches Mathematics and Statistics at undergraduate level at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
