Her academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona), a postgraduate diploma in Methodological Principles of Research in Oncology: Epidemiology and Biostatistics Tools (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Barcelona), and a Master of Public Health from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.

Since 2002, she has been involved in HPV research at the Unit of Infections and Cancer (Cancer Epidemiology Research Programme) at the Institut Català d’Oncologia (ICO) (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Catalonia).

For the last 9 years, she has been a member of the organizing group Information Centre on HPV and Cancer, which gathers and disseminates country and regional information related to HPV and cancer with the aim of accelerating the implementation of preventative strategies to reduce the burden of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases in the World.

She has been involved in six phase II-III clinical trials of HPV vaccines at ICO: two trials testing the quadrivalent vaccine against HPV6/11/16/18 infections in females, one trial testing the bivalent vaccine against HPV16/18 infections in females, and three trials testing the new 9-valent HPV vaccine against HPV6/11/16/18/31/33/45/52/58 in females and males (one trial is still ongoing).

Currently, she is finishing her PhD investigating the effect of male circumcision on genital HPV infection in men-where she has participated in the HIM (HPV in men) Study, a multinational cohort study of the natural history of HPV infections in men.
