Laura Monfil Herrera
Laura Monfil holds a Statistics degree (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, 2004), a Master in Quality Management (Open University of Catalonia, 2006) and a Master in Statistics and Operations Research (Polytechnic University of Catalonia, 2016).
In 2016 she joined the Cancer Epidemiology Research Program (CERP) in the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) as biostatiscian, where she provides statistical and database management support.
Her work is focused on the epidemiology of cancers with a well-established or potential association with HPV infection, and the evaluation of the impact of prevention strategies (HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening) in those cancers associated to HPV.
She has collaborated in evaluating the association between several risk factors and oropharingeal cancer prevalence. She has also performed statistical analyses for the HPV Information Centre, a web-based resource led by ICO and IARC that compiles, processes and disseminates published information on HPV infection and HPV-related diseases for each of the 194 WHO member states.
She is currently a member of UNIC-I team in CERP, where she works in the evaluation of the opportunistic cervical cancer screening program in Catalonia using the Information System for Research in Primary Care (SIDIAP), as well as the evaluation and monitoring of the impact of the HPV vaccination program in Catalonia through the Information System of Primary Care Services (SISAP).
